Week 15 Dec. 3 - Dec. 7

Weekly Notes from 4th Grade Week 1

Dear Parents,

We made it through our first week of school, and 4th grade is off to a great start! I will be sending out weekly notes to keep you updated with what we have done, and what we are getting ready to do.

This week, we completed pre-assessments in Math, Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehension. I will count Vocabulary as a grade for the grade book. The other assessments just help me know what I need to cover in class.

Math – We have started our new Math series. This week we reviewed addition, missing addends, sequences, and place value. Next week we will work on ordinal numbers, months of the year, subtraction, adding money, and adding with regrouping.

English –This week in English, we started declarative, interrogative exclamatory, and imperative  sentences. We will continue to work with the four types of sentences.  We will have a quiz on Tuesday.

Spelling – We will start on Monday.  The spelling words are words from our Social Studies chapter. Students will have homework every day and a test on Friday.

Social Studies – We started building our geography skills.  We talked about the 5 themes of Geography, the different hemispheres, latitude and longitude, and map reading skills. We will finish the chapter on Monday. On Monday, the students will have a study guide and their test will be on Thursday.

Religion – We started Religion learning how to find scriptures in the Bible. Students need to know how the find the book, chapter, and the verse.  We will have a quiz on Friday.

Notes we discussed on Back to School night as well as some new topics.

  • We have P.E. on Tuesday and Thursday. Please have gym clothes for those two days.
  • Summer reading logs are due Tuesday, September 4th. Please sign and turn it in to me, and I will send them to Mrs. Main. Our summer reading celebration is Friday, September 21st .  Please E-mail Mrs. Main if you can help in any way.
  • On Monday, I will be sending home a Reading Verification Sheet. This is part of the student’s homework to read 15 minutes at a time/ 5 times per week. The Reading Verification Sheet is due every Monday, signed by a parent.
  • Green folders will start coming home this Friday. Usually, the folders will have the students completed work. I will staple all work together.  Please review your child’s work, sign, and return it in green folder.  I will keep the papers for the nine weeks and then return them after report cards go out.
  • Homework Agendas need to be signed by a parent for the first few weeks. I only noticed a couple of signatures.
  • My website is mrsronysclassroom.com Please check it out. There is a calendar of upcoming quizzes, tests, and field trips.

Field Trips – I have two field trips scheduled in October.  The first one will be to the State Fair on Monday, October 1st and the second one will be Friday, October 19th to Natural Bridge. I will let you know more information when it gets a little closer.

I will be sending you a separate email with your student’s email and password.  I would like for you to have them log into their gmail and accept my invitations to join Google Classroom. The students will need to know how to log into their gmail accounts on Monday when we start using our Chromebooks.

Thank you for sending me a wonderful class!  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Many blessing,

Mrs. Rony
